GILLIAN’S SONG

A.K.A. GAIL’S SONG

Living in a cottage on Point Shirley near Deer Island, MA;

The hundred yard strip of land surrounded by water and feel of the waves seeped into my writing at this time, subliminally.

GAIL was like a mother to me in my first few years on the east coast.

She was big into the arts; a member of the Winthrop Playmakers.

This music was used for “To Gillian, on her 37th birthday.”

In the play, the husband and a few others

have gathered at a seaside cottage for what would have been Gillian’s 37th Birthday…

Gail loved it enough that during a sleepless night, she wrote words to it,

and it was performed at her funeral in 1990. This is the solo piano version,

ala Satie, and the sea
